Takoma Montessori School is an independent pre and primary school in the heart of Takoma Park, Maryland, serving children from 2 to 6 years old.
Our philosophy
We are guided by the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. Montessori education emphasizes self-directed activity, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. Children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the way.

Our director
Manjit K. Singh founded Takoma Montessori School after 32 years of Montessori teaching, including 15 years directing Paint Branch Montessori. She leads the classroom every day, and she will likely be the one welcoming you on your tour.
Our community
We proudly embrace our diversity and build a three-fold partnership between the child, the parents, and our staff, grounded in respect, positive communication, and warm relationships. Families join us from Takoma Park, Silver Spring, and the nearby DC neighborhoods.
